Why We Organize the South
The states of the US South are home to the lowest wages, the least amount of worker protections, and the most hostile climate for worker organizing.
In the face of these conditions, Southern workers are rising up today to demand dignified work and an end to a Southern economic model that is rooted in racism and the long history of slavery and Jim Crow.
The Southern Organizing Brigade is a project dedicated to the development of long-term worker power in the South, through the training and development of a new generation of Southern worker organizers. The Southern Organizing Brigade is a sponsored project of the Southern Vision Alliance.
